3/5 ★ – AaronElWhite's review of Cat Quest II.

Bigger isn't always better. By expanding the open world by quite a bit, the density of quests and interactions takes a noticeable hit, breaking up the flow a little more than I would have liked. The biggest issue, though, is how much of a mixed bag adding ranged attacking is. We played entirely co-op with one doing the physical melee role and another taking on a magic ranged one. As cool as it was having new spells to utilize, the game just isn't built to accommodate this option very well. Enemies are all designed to basically rush you, and especially so at higher levels this becomes miserable due to the typical glass cannon low health that comes with an optimized range build. By the time one attack gets off, you end up dodge rolling out of range and can't get more than one in before having to do this over and over. It's not very fun, or effective, and I cannot fathom playing solo with a ranged character. I just don't see it working. That being said, it's still more Cat Quest, full of cute characters and puns with a little better story and mostly fun gameplay.
