2/5 ★ – ActingUnwise's review of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.

“No, I am your father.” I am a massive Star Wars fan. I am a massive fan of the original Lego Star Wars games that cane out on the Gamecube too. So it brings me great pain to not just dislike, but hate the direction this highly anticipated game went. Fans of the original titles will remember a cantina hub, where players would select the episode and chapter to play, and then proceed into a well crafted linear level, with lots of secrets to uncover. This new game has scrapped the hub, and instead has made the galaxy an open world, with major cities serving as hubs containing collectables, upgrades and unlocks to collect through side quests and puzzles. This resulted in a very un-enjoyable experience in my eyes. This was mainly due to a massive, yet empty world, that you could either dump insane time into collecting the extras, or literally just run through to advance to the next chapter of the story. Now that would be fine if the levels were on the scale of the original games, but they simply are not. Levels are microscopic, with nearly no secrets or collectibles to find. The ship fight levels are the closest to the original with the same concept as before, yet even these have been cut down to be much shorter. The only bright spot I’d say are the Lego humour is still intact, and the voice acting is well done (even though not all characters have their movie actors). Pros: -Voice acting -Lego humour Cons: -Empty open world -Shortened unsatisfying levels -Too many collectibles
