4.5/5 ★ – AliceInPayne's review of Max Payne 2: The Fall Of Max Payne.
One of the most perfect games I have played, beat over and over along with the third game,
Strongest in the series, stylistically and story-wise a really rich experience. The whole film noir love story plot just plays out excellently and ends gut wrenchingly (not to spoil anything)
Gameplay was a massive step up from the first entry, which was about as beatable as a claw machine, don't get me wrong, you'll still die a ton of times but you will at least have fun tools at your disposal. Bullet time had a full upgrade and felt flashy, plays unbelievably smooth at 60fps.
Wont drag on about how much I love this one and the third game, please give it a go especially on the Xbox series S backwards compatible version.
Bonus - The end credits was the most emotional thing I have witnessed, feels more like a art house movie, it includes the first song by 'Poets of The Fall' which is called 'Late Goodbye' a slightly grungy and very fitting tune. The song was based on a poem by director Sam Lake as the band had known him from being in Finland, gave a start to the group.
Would recommend.
