3.5/5 ★ – AllieN7's review of Dark Souls II: Crown of the Old Iron King.

Some of the worst boss runs in this entire series and some really inconsistent level design, but Fume Knight and Sir Alonne are by far my favorite fights in this entire game and the new location is absolutely breathtaking from a visual standpoint. Fume Knight is extremely challenging but doesn’t feel unfair or lazy like a lot of main game fights and there’s even a really fun mechanic tied to the dlc’s level exploration, and Sir Alonne is just an incredible duel between two warriors that was easily the main highlight for me, even if the boss run was absolutely terrible, kinda feels like a perfect fight to end Dark Souls 2 on even though there’s another dlc after this. I think the two main bosses really make this worth it for fans of this series (even though The Blue Smelter Demon is just a lazy reskin from the main game) I really wish this didn’t rely so heavily on random enemy placements for challenge and I wish the boss runs were less bad, but this was a lot of fun.
