3.5/5 ★ – Anteater's review of Lollipop Chainsaw.

Lollipop Chainsaw gives you a bunch of genuinely enjoyable and hilarious characters with a trapped in a short experience with a decent combat loop, a goofy but ultimately forgettable plot, and a fantastic licensed soundtrack (making sparkles shoot out of zombie's heads to Mickey never gets old) to give you that perfect Suda51 "flawed masterpiece" feeling (with a shocking amount of talent along for the ride). Also like, yeah it's supposed to be an over the top grindhouse aesthetic, and yeah Juliet is cute, but does nearly every NPC/enemy have to be some misogynistic sex pest? I know James Gunn hadn't quite left his edgy phase yet but there's gotta be some kind of slurs/minute record here. Definitely could have aged better. I'd love a chance to see these characters again in a mechanically deeper, moderately more tasteful experience (even though I doubt it'll happen, Juliet's no Travis). But stranger things have happened...
