4.5/5 ★ – ArditB2006's review of Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed.
I did played a little bit of this game for the Wii back in 2021-ish when I was obsessed with the Wii, originally developed by Junction Point Studios & Published by Disney Interactive back in 2010, same to its sequel, Power of Two, which was made back in 2012, I’ve used to have both of these games for the Wii but then traded it to GameStop cuz the Wii isn’t worth it anymore (expect for jailbreaking it), Epic Mickey Rebrushed is an Remake to the first game developed by Purple Lamp Studios (the same guys behind the SpongeBobs BfBB rehydrated & Cosmic Shake Game) & Published by THQ Nordic, it’s about where in the story, Mickey goes to merlin room, plays with his paintings, then the dark gloomy monster takes over and sends Mickey to the mad doctor to get his heart taken away, Mickey has to stop the madness and save his heart from the darkness and mad doctor, with an help of Gremlin Gus & his forgotten buddy, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, I’ve had so much fun playing this game, and I’m glad licensed games like this are getting the recognition it deserves, I’ve finished the game in like 4 days ago and it was amazing.
Pros:
- Amazing Graphics
- Cool Character designs (especially the bosses & robot versions of Mickey’s pals like Goofy, Donald Duck & Daisy Duck
- the 3d platforming is so cool
- plays way better than the Wii version for it’s higher frame rates, resolution & better controls.
- the paint & thinner idea is cool
- Music is great
- Gameplay is very better, definitely perfect for speedrunning.
- the projector screens featuring lots of amazing Disney films including Steamboat Willie, Fantasia, & ofhers)
- pretty cool cameos & references from Disney movies including Sleeping Beauty, TRON & Peter Pan)
- the boss fights are scarier
- concept art is beautiful
Cons:
- there is only one bug where in top of the building roofs from Bog Easy, there is a vase with tickets inside it in top of the roofs, it’s unbreakable.
Verdict:
Epic Mickey Rebrushed is such an amazing remake of a game that Purple Lamp Studios did a great job on remaking games like these, I really wish Power of two gets the same effect sooner (also hoping for epic Donald & epic Mickey 3 to happen someday), everything in the game itself is very amazing, if you are an fan of Mickey Mouse or not an fan of it before, I’d highly recommend this game is for you if you like 3D Platformers like Super Mario 64 & others, even those who already played the original epic Mickey games, it’s also worth buying as well besides the $60 price tag in the game itself just like most AAA games nowadays.
