3/5 ★ – ArmedPsyco's review of Melatonin.
I've always considered myself an average rhythm game player at best, but Melatonin proved me wrong. The game was visually stunning, with each level uniquely designed to reflect the dream world it represented. The soundtrack perfectly complemented the visuals, creating an immersive experience.
However, the game's difficulty was unexpectedly high. Despite turning on all the accessibility options, I still found myself struggling to keep up with the beat. The stress of hitting the buttons perfectly often left me breathless and unable to fully enjoy the game's beauty. I sometimes wished I could just watch the level play out on autopilot, appreciating the visuals without the pressure of performing.
The accessibility options didn't seem to improve the timing windows for perfect hits, making the game feel even more challenging. Thankfully, Melatonin was a relatively short game. If it had been longer, I might have given up out of frustration.
As much as I'd like to go back and collect all the stars and rings, I don't think I'll be able to without suffering a minor stroke in the process.
