1.5/5 ★ – Artagah's review of RoboCop 2.

It's too bad there is a single entry for this game cause I know it has a better arcade version, but I played the NES version. I complete the majority of games I play, but I abandoned this one on level 4. It's just horrible. It feels bad to play! Robocop has an unintuitive bad feeling horizontal movement acceleration curve, which takes ages to get going and ages to slow back down, which makes platforming an absolute chore. This same slippery movement control also translates to the shooting range mini game, which makes this part of the game equally unplayable. It's also got the cheapest possible enemy locations and split paths where you can take the upper or the lower path through the level, which should be a positive right? WRONGGGGG! There is no choice here at all due to level objectives! You have to destroy at least 75% of all enemies and collect at least 75% of all nukes in the levels to proceed, otherwise you have to replay the level from the beginning even if you have completed it. There is only a single path which nets you the correct number of enemies and nukes, and this path is convoluted as heck. Often you have to start at the top, edge your way to the furthest nuke without going too far so you can go back to drop down and collect those as well. Of course the screen doesn't scroll back, even though the games objective is exploration, which is just SO cool and intuitive :) The absolute worst part of the game though are "secret" passages. They are secret in a sense that you can't see where to enter them, you have you go through the ceiling in a certain section of the game, even though you hit you head against the ceiling in all the other sections, making it very unlikely for the player to try and find it, or you have to press down to lower yourself down under the level, but only in one specific spot which looks identical to the rest of the level, meaning there is no way to find it on your own without looking through a guide, since kneeling anywhere else in the level is just a regular crouch! Well, so what, you might think, they're secret passages, you're not supposed to find them on your first playthrough anyway, right? WRONG AGAIN my good friend.... They are a part of the critical path, and you HAVE to find them in order to get enough nukes and kill enough enemies. The first few times I went through a stage without finding one I couldn't understand why I wasn't getting 100% on nukes and enemies, since I killed them all and got all the nukes, and honestly thought the game was glitched, but it turns out I didn't know about this one stupid cryptic part of the game. Add in cheap one hit kill traps and obstacles all over the place (right next to the nukes you have to collect, obviously) and you get yourself whatever this disgrace to the NES is.
