Maybe the most disappointing game purchase I’ve ever made. Endless Ocean Blue World is one of my favorite games, and I loved its focus on exploration and story. When a new game was revealed for Switch I was so excited, but the game is incredibly hollow. All the environments are randomly generated, which means that you just randomly explore an area till you get bored and then generate a map. There’s little sense of progression or belief that what you do matters, because everything is just so random. The engaging story of Blue World has disappeared, and the only character besides your player is an AI character with a grating voice. I had to stop playing after a few hours because of how disappointed I was. I would’ve preferred HD remakes of the two original Wii games instead of getting this nothing burger of a sequel.
