4/5 ★ – AzulAzuril's review of Freddi Fish 4: The Case of the Hogfish Rustlers of Briny Gulch.

I enjoyed Freddi Fish 4 a lot! The cowboy and western theming really helps give this game a lot of personality and humor. Chasing after “hogfish rustlers” while underwater is a unique spin on the Freddi Fish games and definitely makes this title feel distinct. I also want to shout out Luthor for being actually quite hilarious in this game. His reactions to the different spices in the pirate ship and his jail singing are moments that make me cackle. There’s lots of good puns and humorous moments throughout this game that really kept me engaged. The map design and puzzles are pretty good- they feel just expansive enough without ever being too complicated. I also appreciate that a lot of the needed items can show up in different ways. The game does have some minor graphical issues with lip synching and voice acting that distracted me. These happen at the climax of the game so they’re pretty obvious and easy to notice. I also take a bit of issue with the game’s ending and the reveal of the “ringleader” behind the crime. The game intentionally makes a number of characters look shady and suspicious to make you believe they’re the culprit, but the game changes the ending each time you play. I like that a different character commits the crime, but I wish that the game would explain the suspicious actions each time you play or give a reason why some characters are making weird comments. Outside of that, I generally enjoyed the plot though and found this to be a great mystery point and click title for all ages.
