Of the Mario Kart titles that I own; this may be the one that I have the least attachment to. In no way do I think Mario Kart 7 is a bad game, but I do think that there is less reason to return to it than some other titles. 7 introduced gliding and underwater driving into the franchise, but because those changes were carried into Mario Kart 8, I feel like that leaves 7 as a game without much of an identity. I think a similar issue happens with customizable karts, which also carried over into 8. There are definitely some good courses that 7 introduced, like its version of Rainbow, the Wuhu Island courses, and Shy Guy Bazaar. The character roster is definitely on the weaker side, with the removal of Waluigi but the addition of Honey Queen and Metal Mario. Battle Mode was still decent in this game, so that’s definitely a plus. Altogether, 7 is a good game, but one I find myself not really revisiting.
