4/5 ★ – AzulAzuril's review of Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

This was my first foray into the Super Smash Bros. series, and I loved this game so much as a kid. I think Brawl is fun in a lot of ways- it’s got a fun character roster and great music. Mechanically, this game probably is the worst in the series- it’s got random tripping, it’s super floaty and the gameplay is really slow. The grittier “realistic” art style hasn’t aged the best either. However, what makes me love Brawl so much is the Subspace Emissary. No other game in the series has single player content like Brawl does, and watching the story play out in Subspace for the first time as a child gripped me. I also would use playing Subspace to help introduce new players to the Smash series, as the cooperative two-person nature and the constantly changing playable characters was a great way for people to experience the game and learn its mechanics. Even though Brawl isn’t perfect, I still think that it is an incredibly fun title.
