4.5/5 ★ – AzulAzuril's review of Wii Sports Resort.

This game is probably the peak “casual” gaming experience. Wii Sports Resort took everything that made the original Wii Sports game good, and it just adds more. There’s more content, more control options, more theming. This game was made with a lot of love and affection, and there’s a reason why so many people remember this title so fondly. The best part of this game is the sheer amount of content included, as the game introduces so many new sports, all of which have multiple modes and games to play within them. These new games, plus the addition of in-game achievement medals adds so much content and replay value to the title. My personal favorites are Swordplay and Air Sports, which are probably the most popular ones, but they make for such fun experiences either on your own or with friends. The more precise controls of the Wii Motion Plus also make the games just more precise and enjoyable to play. The best part of Wii Sports Resort to me is the theming of the game, as placing all of the minigames on this central island of Wuhu Island makes it all feel like a real experience. The island is so well designed and there’s so much fun lore to discover (particularly when playing Island Flyover) and my dream is that Nintendo someday makes an open-world version of Wuhu Island to explore. The island theme and relaxing nature of the game make this an experience that has great vibes. I really hope this game or this setting gets revisited sometime in the future.
