1.5/5 ★ – Batma8e's review of Narc.
Of all the 6th gen games I’ve emulated I’ve never quite experienced a game that my computer hated more than me. I only experienced about two crashes, I guess Trevor Moore’s ghost was preventing me from playing a game starring Bill Bellamy as a tough cop and Michael Madsen playing a cop who’s also a recovering drug addict. It’s writing is dull and very unfunny and uninteresting, the gameplay is fine I guess shooting enemies can be quite entertaining occasionally but it’s always frustrating how this game really likes to pad its short runtime out with whatever it can to make a mission go on longer than it needs to. Brought to us by VIS entertainment who’s only notable games are State of Emergency (the good one) and Evil dead fistful of boomstick this game feels like a desperate attempt to keep a studio afloat by making a “cheap” alternative to GTA. And with that, you can definitely feel the cheapness in this game at times. For a studio who’s most notable games were filled with such wit and charm the absolute lack of anything interesting in this games writing is very disappointing. It’s an edgy gta clone reboot of an arcade game that perfectly represents everything about what the early to mid 2000’s was like. My only praise for this game is it’s filled with licensed music and all of it’s genuinely pretty good. Whenever you get into a shootout it’ll be backed by a pretty good track in the background which definitely heightens the combat.
