4/5 ★ – Batman_Beware's review of God of War: Chains of Olympus.
God of War Chains of Olympus is a very good game. If I didn’t know it originally released on PSP I would’ve thought it was a PS2 title. It’s that good. The combat is a lot like the first God of War but the abilities you get later on are very much their own thing.
The story, in my opinion, is where this game really shines. Kratos still serves the Gods and is tasked with aiding the Sun God Helios after Morpheus has put most of the Gods in a deep slumber. Kratos begins to hear a strange melody throughout his journey and eventually recognizes it as a song his daughter Calliope used to play. At the end of the game he has to make a choice- stay with her in Elysium or leave her again to stop the Queen of the Undead from releasing the Titans and destroying reality as they know it. Kratos does the latter not because of what the titans will do to the Gods, he cares little for the world or its suffering. He realizes he serves a higher purpose, and that comes at the cost of leaving the only one he truly cared for.
Overall, Chains of Olympus is a technical marvel for the PSP and a great God of War game in its own right.
