2.5/5 ★ – Batman_Beware's review of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

Wrote this while watching the credits roll) Ok so let’s start off with the things I did like: The world design of Metropolis is the best we’ve seen it in anything outside of the comics and the DCAU, the retro futuristic style is perfect for this version of Metropolis and I only wish this could’ve been the sandbox for a Superman or Justice League game instead. The character models and cinematics were really well done, and honestly even the weapon designs were very unique, clearly a lot of care went into these aspects of the game. The voice acting for the most part was a highlight without a doubt, Kevin Conroy was amazing in his last performance as Arkham Batman, Debra Wilson as Amanda Waller embodied the role (though I prefer her in Telltale’s version), Scott Porter as The Flash was great, and Zehra Vazal as Wonder Woman was one of the best parts of the game. Now as for what I didn’t like: The gear system for one I felt was completely unnecessary, the gunplay was fine and i think tacking on a gear system wasn’t needed at all. I found myself using more or less the same weapons for most of the game on normal without feeling like I needed to do side stuff to get better gear. The writing for most of the game is just not up to snuff with what you’ve come to expect from Rocksteady. There was a few moments like the interaction with Diana and Barry that was genuinely decent but the writing between the Squad and the supporting cast (Gizmo, Ivy, Penguin and Toyman) was just not good. The boss fights were so disappointing, it’s insane how for it being the whole point of the game the boss fights were such letdowns, especially Batman’s. I won’t get into Batman’s death because he’s alive now in Season 4 and I already gave my thoughts on it when it happened. Overall, Suicide Squad is a massive disappointment in many areas, and I can only hope they can come back from this with a game that’s deserving of Rocksteady’s legacy. Whether that’s Batman, Superman, Justice League, something original, or whatever, I hope they get that chance and that the leadership can steer them in a different and better direction.
