The physical reaction I had to defeating the Great Sage’s Broken Shell cannot be understated. Heart beating out of my chest, breathless, knees weak. I felt like I ran a fuckin marathon. This game managed to meet the high you get from playing Soulslikes without exactly fitting into the genre. Frame drops, poor optimization, and the occasional weak boss design holds this game back from being great. Had a blast regardless.
