BlooMoon's review of Princess Peach: Showtime!.

Dylan’s Games Finished 2025 13. Princess Peach: Showtime! (Switch) Play Time: 8 hours Start Date: 8/12/2024 Finish Date: 4/21/2025 Princess Peach: Showtime! is the second video game starring Princess Peach in the lead role. The game takes place in a theater where Peach adopts a different role in each play, each with different playstyles. The artistic direction and presentation is great, and it’s fun seeing the stage play elements of the levels remain consistent as you go through so many different settings and stories. However, this variety comes at the cost of depth. Some of the dramatically different levels are a welcome change, and I feel could be fleshed out into full games themselves. Others are duds that you just want to be over. My favorites were Ninja, Mighty, and Detective. The worst were probably Patissiere and Mermaid. The biggest issue is that you can’t skip most of the dialogue. Levels are full of short, unskippable scripted events that halt gameplay. This game would flow MUCH better if they either A. allowed you to skip dialogue and these little cutscenes, or B. they included full voice acting so the dialogue doesn’t have to linger on the screen for an awkward amount of time. Instead, it’s stuck in this incredibly frustrating in-between. I would love to blast through these levels but the game is always stopping you in your tracks. This also kills any interest I had in replaying levels to find all the collectibles for 100%. I wish the performance was better as well. The game is locked as 30 FPS, which isn’t necessarily a deal breaker - but some cutscenes bring that down to 24 FPS which is very noticeable. I didn’t experience any slowdown, it just seems to be designed with these framerates, and they’re pretty distracting for a Nintendo game released in 2024. I think there’s a really fun game in here that appeals to all audiences. Polish and tighten up the controls, optimize performance, let people mash through all the dialogue, and this could be a really fun game to speed through and go for all collectibles. In its current state, though, I don’t think it really appeals to any audience. It’s far too sluggish in both controls and pacing to appeal to adults or even older kids. The youngest players it seems to be aimed at will struggle with the difficulty of later levels and how much reading there is. Not to mention the classic Nintendo $60 price tag on a game that should probably be $30 at maximum. In conclusion, the game lets you customize your dress so it’s a 10/10. It has a little something for everyone.
