3.5/5 ★ – BlueSorcerer's review of Mega Man 3.
So Mega Man 3. This game is an interesting one. On one hand, this game has some pretty good design choices and great music. On the other hand, this game feels rushed and the difficulty is quite unforgiving.
Needle Man, Magnet Man, Top Man, and Spark Man are comfortable bosses to fight, but Gemini Man, Hard Man, Snake Man, and Shadow Man stress the hell out of me. Gemini Man is nearly as stressful as Split Mushroom, Hard Man hits like a truck, Snake Man's jumps I can never avoid correctly, and Shadow Man is too excited from seeing the Mario Movie. As cool as Proto Man is, his boss fight is extremely easy. And as cool as it was to re-fight Guts Man using robot master abilities from Mega Man 2, this definitely feels like something that was rushed into the game. That and the goddamn Yellow Devil! Well it's at least a little more forgiving here than in Mega Man 1 but still... it's the Yellow Devil. Can I give it any praise? Who knows.
Also, Rush Jet is an absolute godsend. Love this item. And the Top Spin is so broken that it literally destroys bosses. Heck, even Dr. Wily himself gets bodied by the Top Spin. Go figure.
Overall, Mega Man 3 is a relatively good game that beats out Mega Man 1 for sure, however it does not stack up to what Mega Man 2 offered to me.
