4/5 ★ – BlueSorcerer's review of Mega Man 4.
Honestly, I quite enjoyed this game. From a visual standpoint, Mega Man 4 looks great even though I'm not big on the seizure-inducing flashes after you kill certain bosses. It reminds me too much of Sonic Labyrinth and you all know how I feel about that or can probably guess pretty easily.
As for the difficulty, I found this game to be easier than 1 and 3 but still a challenge in some respects. The stages for Toad Man, Ring Man, and Dust Man do annoy me a bit, but every other stage offers a good challenge. Bright Man's time stopper and Dust Man's vacuum ability annoy me too, but their bosses aren't that bad. Ring Man may move and attack way too fast, but he still isn't that bad once you get a pattern down. Really, most of the bosses were comfortable fights.
I can almost say the same for the fortress bosses as most of them did offer a pretty unique challenge. Though still can't get over how much the first fortress boss looks like a weird hybrid of Sol Titanion from Zero 4 and Queenbee from ZX Advent. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was just me. Wily's bosses, on the other hand, I don’t know how to feel about. On one note, they aren't that hard. But on another note, Wily's hitbox is so precise in his first boss that I had to abuse Rush Coil and the Drill Bomb while constantly taking damage. It is so hard to not take damage in this fight. I had E-tanks to spare, but it still wasn't the best fight. The second fight was a little more forgiving, but I really don't have much to praise there either.
Overall, though, I thought Mega Man 4 was a really good game. There are notably some bosses and stage designs that I don't like—and don't even get me started on the seizure-inducing flashes again—but it was still a good time. More forgiving than 1 and 3, but still a ways behind 2.
