4.5/5 ★ – BlueSorcerer's review of Mega Man 6.

I'm going to be completely honest: I think Mega Man 6 is underrated. Sure the presentation is still not as good as Mega Man 4 despite being a step up from Mega Man 5. Also, I'm not the biggest fan of Plant Man's stage, or the fights between Yamato Man and Centaur Man. Lastly, I do find the controls to feel a little... stiff this time around for some reason—I can't really describe it; it's just weird. However, there really aren't any other issues that I have with this game. The stage and boss difficulty feel just about right, the weapons—while situational—get a good amount of use, and the music is really good. Almost all of the level themes—especially Flame Man's theme—are great to listen to. For me, its music is very close to topping Mega Man 2's music. I also really like the final boss between Dr. Wily—all three phases. But screw the boss from stage 2 of Mr. X's Fortress: its attack pattern is too sporadic and it is so hard to not get hit. Not going to lie though, I find it funny that this whole robot tournament concept technically dated in Mega Man 6. It's indirectly pretty good foreshadowing in line with the storyline of Mega Man ZX Advent, as awkward as that is... All in all, Mega Man 6 is a really good game in my eyes. I can confidently say that it tops 1 as well as 3 through 5 for me, however comparing it to 2 is extremely difficult. Ok you know what, I slightly prefer 6 over 2. Why? The final fortress bosses are more forgiving in 6 than in 2. I honestly think that just about everything in 6—minus the music and maybe some of the levels—are a lot more enjoyable than in 2. It is still very close, but I think 6 beats 2 by just a hair for me.
