5/5 ★ – BlueSorcerer's review of Sonic Adventure.

I realize how subjective this is about to be but in my honest opinion... This game is peak 3D Sonic and the best 3D Sonic game in the entire series. This game has visually aged badly and isn't as coded well as later games in the series, but that is not holding much back. I have played various 3D Sonic games in my life, but most of them have never come close to my love for this game. Generations and Unleashed can get really close at times, but to me Sonic Adventure 1 is a game that I and the Sonic series just cannot live without. This game has arguably the best control in any 3D Sonic game. It's smooth, fluid, and can cause you to exploit moves that could break the game, but I don't care. I love it for that! Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles all play phenomenally; and Amy and Gamma play perfectly fine too despite sometimes breaking down the pace. Big we don't talk about for his control or gameplay but we all know that we don't like him so I won't keep beating a dead horse. There's the story, while not my absolute favorite in the series is still very high up there. The aestetic which can look buggy at times but is super pretty in areas like Emerald Coast, Speed Highway, and the inside of Red Mountain. Though really almost the entire game is aestetically nice. Then there's the music, which complements perfectly with the game as a whole. I love this game's soundtrack, especially tracks like At Dawn, Windy Valley, and Gamma's theme. There's just little about this game that I hate but in return so much about it that I love. And I know how many times people rag on this ideology, but Sonic Adventure truly feels like an adventure! So at the least all I can say is... open your heart and play this game! I promise that in spite of its flaws you will find a lot to like about it.
