4/5 ★ – Bo_Po's review of Totally Accurate Battle Simulator.
What do jousters, cowboys, painters, snake archers, and tempest liches all have in common? In Totally Accurate Battle Simulator, they can all be on your team in some of the wobbliest skirmishes ever seen in a game. Even though it’s all in good, floppy fun, there’s depth in strategizing your unit choice or placement to dramatically change the outcome of a battle. There are multiple features available from the start, including campaigns, creation tools, sandbox modes, and secret units. This is a game that wants you to jump in however you want.
TABS has a laundry list of minor annoyances. Selecting units can be tedious, the user interface lacks personality, audio issues pop in and out, and lagginess can occur with more complex armies. It could use some more polish, but the act of creating unhinged combinations of units manages to simulate the feeling of being a kid and smashing all your action figures together. Totally Accurate Battle Simulator is unadulterated joy, and it might be just as much fun to watch someone else play compared to playing it yourself.
