4.5/5 ★ – bryansbane's review of Batman: Arkham City.
Arkham City takes the production value, depth of combat, narrative, boss fights and just about every other facet of quality to new heights over its predecessor. Perhaps the only thing Arkham Asylum has over City is an unmatched atmosphere that still hasn’t been replicated.
Certain sequences like Joker’s blood, Ra’s Al Ghul’s trial or the Mad Hatter were simply shocking on a first playthrough and have stuck with me ever since. The city itself is not too big or too small, the traversal has been vastly improved and the combat is literal perfection. Running into Robin, Azrael or even playing as Catwoman were moments that are even cooler than you hoped they’d be. Arkham City is the peak of the superhero genre and what I’ll compare to everything that comes out after it.
