4/5 ★ – ButtonItJW's review of The Walking Dead: The Telltale Definitive Series.
When they say Definitive Edition, they mean it. If you haven’t played Telltale’s Walking Dead games, or if you have but want to do so again or own the whole lot, this is the way to do it.
Nothing has been changed all that substantially, which is fine considering the strength of the individual seasons (most of them, anyway). But the engine has had some life breathed into it, the comic book-y art style from Final Season has been applied to everything, it contains every release including the aforementioned Final Season and the Michonne spin-off, and it actually has some collected features such as developer’s commentary. It doesn’t offer enough new to be worth the asking price for anyone who’s really familiar with each title, but it’s easily the most efficient collection of newcomers.
100% NOTES: The fact it only offers a single list spread out across every release it pretty egregious, yes, but at least it completely simplifies the list. No RNG achievement in 400 Days! No save manipulation or collectibles in Final Season! This is how it should be. Just play the games and enjoy.
