5/5 ★ – Callum_Bampton's review of Cyberpunk 2077.

Preem from start to finish. Had a great time playing this game the build up towards its release was mega and then it all went downhill from there, I was lucky I suppose that I played it many months later on a PS5. The game of course was filled with bugs but most of them were comical although albeit can be very immersion breaking. Apart from that I had several crashes which were annoying but fortunately the PS5 loaded it so fast I wasn’t fazed to much. The game itself was a blast to play through, the story is short but sweet in terms that it feels more like a thrilling movie rather than a long winding television show. The main quest was fun and I can see myself playing through it many more times with the addition of several of the larger side quest which also involved lots of thought provoking scenarios which had you questioning your morality or pushing the boat out to see what might happen next if you agreed to some ridiculous encounters. The characters were great some stand outs for me where Johnny, Panama and Takemura. These three gave me some of the best perspective of the game all with unique characteristics and missions which were memorable, even the quieter moments were filled with enjoyment and excitement. Going back and replaying missions on a second play through trying different methods and attempting new strategy to me is refreshing, seeing how an encounter can change based on what you say or how you act or what you know is always fun and makes me the player wanna interact with the world more. And what a world it is… The game is expected to receive a visual upgrade in the future but still the game looks and sounds amazing when it works, however the game world feels mostly lifeless whilst exploring the open world which is very disappointing because the game is great fun and sets up this beautiful world just to feel empty whilst not on a mission. Gameplay wise it’s action packed fun, with unique weapons including and abilities which can be changed and upgraded to suit different play styles which creates lots of chance for coming back and enjoying the game again and again for the player. I myself have replayed the game a few times before writing this got the platinum and enjoyed watching my girlfriend play and see how her experience was unique to mine. It’s unfortunate that so many bought the game in its initial state because it seemed almost like nightmare fuel, my experience was great fun and by the end I felt both empty and sad which is a common emotion I feel once something I have utterly enjoyed ends. And during my time I had a blast running through Night City trying out everything and every way to do it and all I got to say is that it was Preem! And I hope the memories ‘Never Fade Away’ Now wake the fuckup Choomba! We got a city to Burn!
