4/5 ★ – CaptainQuaz's review of Ghost of Tsushima: Iki Island.
The heart of a samurai.
I wasn’t expecting this expansion to have as much story depth as it did. Most expansions for games don’t really do much in terms of their character/world building, but this game did both. It dwelled into the psyche of Jin, who I thought I already knew well from 100%ing the main story but boy was I wrong. If the main story is about honor and how far to take it, this is a story about letting go and acceptance. It feels like more grounded story that more people can relate to.
The side quests had some meat to them as well that hit some emotional beats in surprising ways, but unfortunately some of the quests that had no way points or ways to find them besides luck required me to look up tutorials to hit that 100% mark. Speaking of, this expansion does not give you any reward for getting everything unlike the main game. A minor complaint but still not large enough to take away how fun it was to be a samurai defending his home land once again.
