3.5/5 ★ – CaramelKaiteki's review of Fahrenheit: Indigo Prophecy Remastered.

Starting out as an incredibly interesting sci-fi crime thriller, this game genuinely had my interest for quite a while. Sadly however, the incredibly frustrating gameplay paired with the nonsensical final hour of the game make it go out on a whimper. I've heard it was due to Cage being forced to write a definitive ending for this game despite having a multi-series story in mind, but even then I think there are some elements that even fleshed out wouldn't have worked. I hope someone one day remakes this game and writes a better story with this premise. Or better yet, make a movie out of it. Because while the story/concept is interesting... the gameplay is genuinely just bad. The Simon Says stuff is so in your face that it's hard to figure out what's going on behind it since you need to focus on fast reaction, and somehow the design for the Simon Says overlay is worse than the original, making it harder to see which button is lit up. The fast left/right clicking necessary for some parts is genuinely bugged near the end, I had to swap to keyboard controls to get past that. Had the meter all the way to the right and still got "Failed" a bunch of times leading to the loss of lives. The memory sections genuinely had some of the worst stealth gameplay ever as well. I still score it a 3.5/5, because I genuinely did enjoy like 70-75% of the game's story. I liked some of the reveals, I liked the action and tension. It just fumbles it near the end. SPOILER ALERT FROM HERE ON IN: ---- I think that Lucas having powers is not an issue. The fact he "out of nowhere" uses all kinds of flips and force push things and such in a moment of high stress could work absolutely fine. It's explained he has had visions since being a child, so him realizing he has more powers when under extreme duress would not really come out of left field as much as other people say it is. That being said, the names for the "clans" are ridiculous. Orange Clan and Purple Clan? Like come on... that's writing by a child. The Oracle was a cool name, his presence also was cool for most of the story (being in the shadows) until he suddenly is being bitched by 5 individuals even more powerful than him, making him not so much a threat anymore. The Artificial Intelligence should just not have existed at all. This is the part that genuinely wouldn't have worked even with more fleshing out. It makes no sense for the world that's written, with Mayan sacrifices and such. It should've been kept in that culture. The love story between Lucas and Carla is extremely underdeveloped. Going from "I need to catch this killer" to "he might be telling the truth" to a few days later "I love you Lucas" and them having sex. I'm not opposed to the love story, it could work with better writing, it's just extremely undercooked. Lastly, I think Tyler, while an awesome guy, literally has no influence on the plot. He could've been cut entirely and nothing would change. His entire arc is "I don't wanna leave my wife home alone but I want to make the world a better place" and then he is presented with a choice at the end "do I wanna stay with my wife and go to Florida or stay as a cop". Genuinely needed better writing.
