2/5 ★ – Casinopolis's review of Lost Planet 2.
Lost Planet 2 feels like it learns a lot of the right lessons from the dreadful first game in the series.
By ditching the cast of cliche and forgettable characters, it manages to place more focus on its fun selection of brief and compact missions, and dynamic set piece moments.
That being said, this game totally loses the plot and nothing about the story feels coherent. The scriptwriting is just laughable, veering on the side of ‘so bad it’s good’.
It’s a shame that the final episode ruins what could have been a decent experience, resorting back to all the same shenanigans that made Lost Planet 1 awful: large landscapes with no clear sense of direction or purpose, an abundance of bullet-sponge enemies, and bosses needing oddly-specific inputs that are not well communicated to the player.
