2/5 ★ – Chara789's review of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.
I hated Sekiro. I tried three times to get into it, but just couldn't. The last attempt ended on Genichiro. Randomly, I decided to try again, and now I've finished the game (well, technically almost, I have yet to beat the final boss, though I have fought him enough to know how to review the game). And playing through it... it's still not good. It's better than before, but still is easily the worst FromSoft soulslike to me. The combat system works great against bosses that let it work, but there are so many absolutely annoying mini bosses that just don't let it. The vast majority of mini bosses are unfun to fight and just feel like a waste of time. The main bosses are overall mixed. Of the 14 I consider main bosses, I dislike 7, am neutral on 1, and enjoy the other 6. Granted, of those 7, a few aren't bad, just a bit annoying and not working with the game, as they are more gimmick fights (Folding Screen Monkey's or the Great Serpent). But everything between the main bosses sucks. Also, FromSoft, please go back to the ways of DS2 and Bloodborne, and make it so if there's multiple bosses for the final fight, if you beat one, you never have to beat it again. Please. Genichiro is ruining Isshin for me.
Bottom line is, this game is really fun when it works, but too often, it just doesn't
And fuck you Owl, both of your fights suck ass
