4.5/5 ★ – Charlie3379's review of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind.
One of the my favourite games ever. I love how the neighbours call me slurs almost daily, and the wildlife try to eat me alive the same amount, if not more. It is truly immersive and realistic because of this, also because they decided it would be funny to not tell you where to go and instead write you cryptic little notes in a magic journal that writes its own notes somehow. If you neglect to ask any further information on where to go, you will get no help in finding these locations and will be eaten by nix hounds and rats in a swamp. The story is very convoluted and given to you in the subtext and actual literature you can to read, but it is really interesting if you can be bothered to learn it. I will break down the story simply: (spoilers?) There's a half naked man in a mountain that killed you in a past life and you got reborn and now you have to try and kill him back. The issue is that you have to do a whole load of bullshit before you can figure out what's happening and if you actually were reborn. Umm, So that's like the smallest bit of lore there for you. I hope you liked it. If it made no sense to you that's because u explained it wrong. The actual main story missions, however, are probably the worst part of the entire game as they mostly consist of you asking people if they'll be your friend and then bribing them when they say no. There's also a bit where you have to find a tiny cube in this ruin and the cube is like on a shelf somewhere but its really hard to see and I don't know why they did that. You do get to be best friends with a drug addict though so that makes up for it. I forgot to mention that this game has slave labour in it, which is an interesting choice if you ask me. Personally, I am very against such horrific practices, but it does add to the world building very well. If you are not against slavery you should go to therapy probably unless you can't afford it, then maybe consider your options. Enough about us, Morrowind is an amazing game after you've died to a single rat 20 times forcing you to learn the combat mechanics. Then you will Google why you can't hit the rat and you'll be confused and not play the game for a few months until you eventually come back to it and watch a tutorial on how to play morrowind for beginners. The video will be at least 1 hour long, and the first half will be telling you which mods you need. I recommend the ones that are good. If you read all of this, then you probably need to get a life, but I wrote it, so who's talking. Jk, you are stunning ;) (unless you like slavery). I hope you like the game, and if not, I get you it's not for everyone.
