4/5 ★ – DanteHR's review of Planet of Lana.

XBOX delivered us another super cute "indie" with a lot of potential. "Planet of Lana" made by "Wishfully Studios" and published by "Thunderful Publishing" brings us a very cute and unique magical world, full of fascinating creatures and creepy robots. "Planet Of Lana" is a "hidden gem" just like "Ravenlok", being just as short, maybe even shorter than "Ravenlok" . "Planet Of Lana" manages to deliver us an extraordinary adventure. Also, the game is free on "XBOX Game Pass", so I recommend everyone to at least try it. "Planet Of Lana" begins with two little girls, "Lana" and "Ilo", both playing near the village. Afterwards, an invasion of robots fall from the sky into the ocean waters, following as everyone from the village to be captured and taken to the "Mother Ship". The main character "Lana" manages to escape unseen and goes deep into the forest near the village, continuing to search for her sister, "Ilo". From the start we can see that the game has a special art style and a truly delightful music. At the beginning, the game asks you to avoid certain obstacles such as: robots and creatures from the forest, but as you progress in the game, the obstacles and puzzles become more and more complicated. In terms of combat, "Planet Of Lana" delivers absolutely nothing, there are still certain enemies that you can trick into falling into your traps. The main part on which the game focuses is travelling. An easy-platformer with many puzzles of medium difficulty is the perfect definition of the game. After the tutorial, the more you advance in the story you will meet a monster that you can save, it is called "Mui", the gameplay changes completely when you meet the monster "Mui", the game will allow you to use many more mechanics such as: cutting the rope, activating the lights in the caves, certain holes where "Mui" can enter to reach the given objective, and so on. The gameplay itself si very simple, given that the game does not focus on this, I could say that it is not its "strong point". Also, the variety of enemies is quite small, but that doesn't make it any less good. We have reached the part where "Planet Of Lana" focuses the most. That being the art style. The game has an absolutely magical artstyle, full of forested areas, open fields, creepy caves and Autumn landscapes. I don't think I could name a game similar in artstyle to this one. The game is quiet and short. Not having graphics of "2023" or other indie games with bigger budget, "Planet Of Lana" managed to deliver some simple but beautiful effects. The only disturbing comment I have about this part is the design of the characters, I found it a bit boring, considering that everything in "Planet of Lana" is so gorgeous. On the sound side, "Planet of Lana" delivers what it should deliver. I want to say that there are no sounds that will knock you back, but neither are they hard to listen to. They are mediocre on their best day. On the other hand, the "Music" is extraordinarily good. It matches the aesthetics of the game and makes your ears go into a sleepy trance. I loved when the music changed continuously while an enemy was near or the environment changed. In order to not give too many spoilers or rather not at all, "Planet Of Lana" begins with two sisters, "Lana" and "Ilo" playing near the village, then , an invasion of robots fall from the sky and capture the whole native village of "Lana", including "Ilo", then the whole village is invaded by alien robots, and Lana tries to escape from the village, walking without to be seen towards the nearby "Forest". There , she meets a little monster named "Mui", "Lana" saves him from the robots and then both of them go on an adventure to save all the people from the tribe. "Planet Of Lana" offers us a quiet experience after so many disappointing AAA games full of boring content. It's a game with a straightforward story, without much action, but with extraordinarily beautiful landscapes. I would say that "Planet Of Lana" is a must try, especially for people who have "XBOX Game Pass", since it is free. If not, $20 is the perfect amount for a game of 3-5 hours with such a cute story and aesthetics. 7.8/10 Made by DanteHR
