5/5 ★ – DanteHR's review of Resident Evil 4.

It seems that the wait is over.. The remake of one of the best Survival-Horror games has arrived and delivers more than we expected. CAPCOM delivered one of the best singleplayer experiences from recent years with this legendary remake, adding a ton of new elements and even extra content. "Resident Evil 4 Remake" is superior to the original. From super interesting puzzles, to great graphics and finally enemies with a spectacular design. The game starts exactly like the first one, nothing extraordinary happens at the beginning, you play as "Leon S Kennedy" sent on a special mission to recover the daughter of the president "Baby Eagle", but along the way a mystery is presented in the first village, based on people possessed by a certain entity/virus. From then on, the horror begins, a creepy-thriller without jumpscares with a very oppressive atmosphere, making your experience in the game a super pleasant one. When it comes to combat, the game is addictive as hell. You get that level of addiction like in the "Souls" games. "Resident Evil 4 Remake", just like the other Resident Evil games, it's a hard game, it has a brilliant balance in the power ratio between you and the enemies, if you let them overrun you, you're as good as dead, but if you keep your ammo and don't miss a bullet or if you parry in time, a new mechanic, just like in "Sekiro", you win and you will have a fantastic experience, the ameplay mechanics are top notch. Another interesting thing that the game does is that, after you finish a huge wave of enemies, the game lets you breathe and gives you a nice complicated little puzzle, some of them being very cool, others being very stressful. There are few games that manage to do what this game did, a gameplay that offers the player tension and relaxation at well-planned intervals, it is side by side with the games from "Naughty Dog", "Uncharted" and "The Last Of Us" are good examples. On the side of the enemies, the game really delivers, a ton of terrifying enemies, each with different voice lines and a similar design but with some small details changed. Every enemy is difficult in his way and you have to find his weak point. The Boss Battles are the same, top notch, spectacular design, incredible voice lines, perfect difficulty, and the tension in the fight is amazing. The first thing you notice is the graphics, they look exceptionally good, from the tessellation of the terrain, to the textures, to the shaders, to the clarity, even the fluff on the ecological jacket of "Leon S Kennedy" is praised. We can only praise this "RE Engine", being extremely good, from "Resident Evil 7" it looks very good, to "Resident Evil 8" they have raised the bar, but here, in "Resident Evil 4 Remake" it looks at a completely different level. You can't play it without looking for hours at the walls, floors and architecture of the houses without be amazed. The animations are very well done, even if they are funny/parodic, the animations of the enemies coming towards you when they fade left-right, making their unpredictable movements, are also very good. Game optimization is just as good, you can reach 60 FPS with a small preset even with a video card from 8 years ago, the only minus would be the non-existence of DLSS in the game. Instead, they added AMD FSR, but it is only recommended for weaker PCs, losing quality. The sounds of the game are also extremely good. The sounds of gunfire, tools, locks and creaking floors are so good that they seem real, the dialogue of the game is a bit adolescent, having rather strange and cringe lines at some times, but the voice actors did their job and if you don't pay attention to the dialogue that much, you won't notice a single difference. The music is superbly good, ambient soundtracks for each individual boss, it always gives you that feeling of horror that many games and movies should give it to you. The story of "Resident Evil 4 Remake" is the same story as the original game, only with some minor dialogue changes, "Leon S Kennedy" is sent on a mission to save the president daughter "Baby Eagle" (Ashley Graham), who was kidnapped by a mysterious cult. He arrives in an unnamed village from Spain where he meets villagers influenced by the "Los Iluminados", the cult that kidnapped Ashley. The villagers have been infected by a parasite that controls their minds, also known as "Las Plagas". Along the way, Leon meets some people that will help him along the way. Some of them being "Ada Wong" and "Luis Vera". The story of the game is very captivating, full of sad, romantic and horror moments. An exceptional re-born, one of the best Survival-Horror games I've played, maybe even the best. "Resident Evil 4 Remake" is perfection at the highest level, with very few issues. Praiseworthy graphics, top notch gameplay and combat, very good story and finally the sounds and ambient music of millions. In case you are thinking of buying this insane game, stop thinking, take $60 out of your piggy bank and buy it, you won't regret it even for a second. It's a very good entry for non-familiar people with "Resident Evil". The game is definetly a GOTY contender. 9.8/10 Made by DanteHR
