Honestly, this game is very enjoyable despite not being all that unique. I really like the new maps and the retro stages that they bring back are actually a good selection. The AI was nerfed dramatically since Wii but they are still ruthless during the final lap in 150cc and mirror mode. Love the new gliding mechanic. This is just basically Mario Kart 8 on the ds with less things. Thoughts on each course: Toad Circuit: Forgettable except for the big Toad Daisy Hills: Not much going for it, only good part is with the windmills Cheep Cheep Lagoon: Don't like this one, hate the turns that are underwater. Shy Guy Bazaar: Love the theme but the course design is passable. Wuhu Loop: I love that they had Wuhu Island as a course, they need to bring this to Mario Kart 8. I like this one better than the other one. Mario Circuit: Really like that you go inside the castle, probably the best Mario Circuit. Music Park: Love that the score plays along with the gameplay, probably the best course in this game. Rock Rock Mountain: I hate the last part where you go up the mountain becuase sometimes rocks fall at the wrong time, making it impossible to dodge them. Piranha Slider: I really like this one for taking us through a roller coaster of enviroments. Wario Ship: Decent to play, looks incredible. Neo-Bowser City: another good looking map, just wish that they showed more than having the player driving in tunnels. Maka Wuhu: Not as good as the other one but it is still very great. DK Jungle: Probably top 5 track in this game, really like the temple at the end. Rosalina's Ice World: This makes me wish that they made more Mario Galaxy maps, this one looked good but could have looked incredible. Bowser's Castle: This is my second favorite Bowser castle: I really like the different paths and how you go over the finish line at the end. Rainbow Road: Very good Rainbow Road, probably the second best ahead of N64, and behind Double Dash. Looks beautiful and is very fluid to play through. TL;DR; Mario Kart 8 but less, great themes for tracks, classic default Mario Kart. 89/100
