5/5 ★ – DarrensTrashBag's review of Persona 5 Royal.
After putting almost 400 hours in through three playthroughs, I can say that this game is pretty cool.
Individual Palace Thoughts:
1st: Good start to the game, introduced likable characters thrown into an interesting conflict.
2nd: Not as good as the first but once again introduces interesting characters with a compelling storyline.
3rd: Quite bland compared to the rest however the palace had an interesting theme combined with good music and boss fight.
4th: Masterpiece. One of the most emotional sections of any game that I have played. Music and theme are top tier and introduces the most tragic character in the series.
5th: Uh oh. Characters are at their worst here. I am fine with the story here it just can be infuriating with how some characters act here. Palace boss is worst in game by how easily you can get stuck in a loop if you're not careful. Theme was cool though.
6th: We are back boys with another perfect palace. The villain was really good and the theme was just top notch. Includes the best Palace song.
7th: Even though the ruler is kind of a one-dimensional villain, the stakes make this "ark" very compelling. The theme and the music get the player energized to finally take down such a powerful person. Calling card was cool and the boss before the main boss is one of the best moments in the game.
8th: The final boss of P5 isn't as interesting as P3 or P4 however the depths is a really unique place with interesting NPCs that you can talk to.
9th: Another Masterpiece. The new palace establishes a new storyline from the beginning of the game and completely blows the mind of anyone who progresses further. Introduces very charismatic characters that you wish were in every scene in the game. One of few games where the final boss is sad due to the player agreeing with the message of the antagonist but disagrees with the solution. This palace made this game worth the $60 paid to play P5 again. 98/100
