4.5/5 ★ – DarrensTrashBag's review of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD.

Twilight Princess is pretty much a mood game, you will hate it if you are not feeling like playing and you will enjoy it when you are in the mood. There are tons of creaks in it's design that become more blatant if you are just not feeling it. Personally, there are two things that I hate about this game: The fact that there is no method to change the time depite it being in every single 3d Zelda game since OoT and having mechanics require it to be nighttime. I 100% this game and it is not worth it at all. If you are playing this game I just recommend getting heart pieces that you remember and that is it. Don't get the stamps and only get 20 Poes. The second thing that I hated, and this is the worst part of the game, is wolf link's combat. All that you need to do with it is hold b and then wait for enemies to walk into your circle. It is so tedious because sometimes you might get hit by a keese or your input won't come in. The tear sections were greatly fixed in this version but they can be a bit of a slog to get through still. The story is pretty good. The start of the game is quite slow but once you beat the water temple, the game gets really great. The subtle humor hits and I really like how they made the universe more creepy like they did with MM. The new characters are iconic to me. Rusl, Midna, and Zant are great editions. This new playthrough made me appreciate Malo more, because he just starts capitalism. Ranking of Dungeons from worst to best: Temple of Time: This is the only dungeon that I hated. This temple is just solving the puzzles as you climb the tower, and then solve them again with the statue. I hated the Dominion Rod, it was clunky to control and was way better used in Wind Waker. The only part of this temple that I liked was the boss ending fakeout. Really disappointing considering this is the Temple of Time. Goron Mines: This is so low mainly because it takes years just to walk to the other side of the room with the iron boots on. The magnetism mechanic is cool and I really liked the boss. Hyrule Castle: A bland Hyrule castle where most of the time you are spending in the courtyard facing hoards of enemies and then doing the 40th fight against King Bulbin. I really love the final fight with Ganon though. Lakebed Temple: This is a really good temple comparing it to other water temples, but it is pretty average when comparing it to the other temples. The second phase of the boss was cool as it is the same as a Shadow of the Colossus boss. City In The Sky: using two hookshots to move around the walls was a fresh Idea that needed to be used more. I actually really liked how this temple was designed. It would be in top 3 if it was not for the fact That the Boss is the worst in the game. Climbing up those towers with the hookshots over and over again and sometimes not being high enough to reach the hovering plants so you have to go to the other tower but you are too late since he is breathing fire over there. Overall a pretty terribly designed fight Forest Temple: I honestly enjoyed collecting the monkeys and all of them being utilized for the final jump to the boss. I think this temple is well paced and having the mid boss help you fight the real boss was nice. I think it is a good start to the game, unfortunately it just makes me dread having to do the next two temples. Palace of Twilight: getting the ball and bringing it back is like the actually good version of the Temple of Time, having Zant's hand follow you to add tension is what that temple needed. Loved that part. Then getting the fully power of the Master sword and just one hitting all enemies was very satisfying. Then Zant's fight, which is the best boss in the game with Gannondorf being second. Zant is a big baby. Snowpeak Ruins: I really like the aesthetic the most. A mansion is such a great location for a temple. The two yetis are great to talk to and the iron chain is actually more fun to use than I would have thought. Despite the ice physics, I really like this temple. Arbiter's Grounds: This is the best temple because it has the spinner. The best item in the series. This temple is very well paced and it is just a better virion of the Forest Temple from OoT. Everything works here and the boss is difficult, but when you are demolishing him, it is exhilarating. TL;DR: Atmosphere, characters, and story are great. Some gameplay issues like Wolf Link's combat, do not 100% this game just do heart pieces, very well designed temples and bosses. 88/100
