3/5 ★ – Diamonddust_23's review of The Quarry.
Everything that could have been wrong just happened.
Cinematic content must be interesting, that's a must in my opinion. Otherwise, what's the point of playing something that's not open in terms of liberty? You just want to experience the whole deal as its developers and writers intended.
Now, what happens if the plot flops? Well, not much, I guess. For me, The Quarry is a good game, you can sit, play, enjoy, laugh and feel some sort of hugged if you're a horror fan. However, it's ridiculously uninteresting even though it tries so hard to be cool and intriguing, and that kills whatever good point the game might have. Also, one of the worst things that can happen when you're playing something is having this intense desire to end things as soon as you can, just because you don't want to lose more time playing something that plain and boring, and that's not something common to me, I'm always positive and curious to see what's going to happen next...nevertheless, The Quarry left me the less intrigued I've been in my whole life, to the point where once the credits finished and I got the final story-based trophy, I uninstalled the game.
So, I've been playing for like almost 5 months. I bought a brand new PS4, and I also have an external hard drive, which I normally use to store most of my games.
I've had the luck to play smoothly, nothing poorly optimized...until The Quarry, which I learned by reading across the Internet, that has several issues, just like mine; overlaying sounds, out of sync dialogues, that of course, didn't match the subtitles, flickering lights, some textures loading poorly... But that's not on the developers as far as I'm told, it was rather because of the insane deadlines they had, so they couldn't make a properly balanced and optimized game.
But I finished the game, sort of.
Didn't get the true ending, which explains a lot of the stuff that happened throughout the game. These type of games encourage you to play them over and over again and maybe I will, maybe I'll play sometime in the future, but at the moment I'm rather tired of this whole experience.
Maybe I'll try Until Dawn, but I'm scared of having this same horrid experience.
