2/5 ★ – Diluted_Thought's review of Battle Chasers: Nightwar.
Let me be clear, I LOVE Joe Mad. Weather it was his early work at Marvel, his amazing Battle Chasers comic book or the Darksiders franchise, his art style has always been my favorite and its just so damn good. As a fan of the original comic to which this is from I knew I had to get my hands on this game when I first heard mention of it. I was so excited to finally get my copy and I put the game in and instantly fell right back in love with the characters, the world and the lore Joe Mad had created. But after a few short hours I was pretty disappointed with the experience. At some point I couldn't get any further because for some reason, even though I was leveling at a good pace I just could get past a trio of regular baddies. Plus the amount of grind you have to do in this game actually feels kinda shitty. You see only active party members gain any XP, meaning you'll have to grind any new characters, or those not quite as active, to get to your current level. This games combat was cool but it did ware on me after a while especially after continuously loosing.
This world is gorgeous and they did a hell of a job to bring it to life, but the game just felt dated and wasn't quite as fun as I had hoped for. It kinda killed my dream of a Battle Chasers game. I'm actually quite heart broken about it.
