3/5 ★ – Diluted_Thought's review of Bulletstorm.

While there is a lot to like in here something just didn't quite work for me. I originally played this on Xbox 360 and I really did enjoy the crazy gameplay elements and this game did promise "Epic" action and delivered. That tether made things so fun. It felt like someone played "Wild 9" on the PSX and thought, hey we should give our character one of those! And Vuala. Using the environment for quick kills was also exciting and the way they changed it up from time to time with enemy times and challenges was indeed one insane scenario after another. The Sniper Rifle with the controllable bullets was one of the coolest weapons I think I've ever had the pleasure of firing and is still the stand out weapon in this game. But although this game had so many highs something kept if from being great. It could have been me not playing the game the way it wanted me to play it but I don't think it was a personal issue. I let these thoughts bubble over time for many years until 2 years ago when I revisited this game on the PS4 and somehow it didn't really hit the same for me. Sure nothing changed but I wonder if my sensibilities have? I also realized how LONG this game actually was on my 2nd play though. Kudos to the team for really packing so much content into this game, but on the other hand, I felt like it wore out its welcome 2 thirds of the way in. I can't argue that this game isn't good. It is. And there is so much room for experimentation and strategy but I still can't put my finger on what truly bothers me about it. A solid FPS that should be played if you haven't already. Despite my 3 star review I still think people should give this game another go. Different strokes ya know.
