4.5/5 ★ – Diluted_Thought's review of Burnout Paradise Remastered.
"Paradise" was absolutely the game I needed to play this summer, as its part of my summer games list (#5) and it fits the vibe well. But there are more than a few reasons this game resonated with me.
For starters I live in a pretty rural area these days and growing up a city kid makes me miss driving around and seeing things I've never seen before and going to places on the other side of the city to escape the views I've been used to for years. As I've done with other open world games, cruising the city is absolutely necessary and weather I'm doing a race or challenge mission I get to take in the sites, the buildings and hidden path ways that make for an extremely satisfying experience. I took my time with this game and even took some in game pictures with my cars in various locations I thought were Rad lookin. This is the definition of escapism for me. I may not be able to drive around a big city any time soon but at least I got Paradise City and Big Surf Island to explore at my leisure.
The game's music also transported me back to 2008 where I missed the game completely, but I had flash backs of my time in college when listening to Seether, Avril Lavigne and N.E.R.D. But I also discovered so much great new music as well which is what I love about these EA games. To add to the awesome soundtrack was the addition of music from past Burnout Paradise games, which I had mostly missed. The listening experience alone was fantastic. And for the record I really loved that this game always started with Gun's and Roses. I never changed it, I just let it play. Every. Single. Time.
After getting my A rank Drivers license, pimping out a few cars and taking on Big Surf Island, I was happy with my time here. I can't stress enough how much this game entertained me and while I may have my driving fix satiated I still hope we get another open world Burnout game. Oh and on that note, please bring back DJ Atomika. Been of fan of that character since SSX3 back in 03. Wondering if we'll ever see him? I'll keep my fingers crossed.
