5/5 ★ – Diluted_Thought's review of Def Jam: Fight for NY.

Hands down the best fighting / wrestling game I've ever got the pleasure of popping into my Gamecube. There was no question, once I rented and played this game for the first time, I knew I had to own it. The roster was bigger and more varied, the music selection was amazing, the graphics were a little smoother and being able to create my own character (complete with all sorts of clothes, jewelry and special moves) was so damn cool. This game improved in every way over the original and it's one I long to play once more. This really is a wonderful time capsule of a game and I appreciated every addition they made to make it so dope. While I do love this game, i don't know how well a modern day version would feel like, considering the big attraction to this was the great roster, but who does Def Jam have now? Sure they've got Jada Kiss, Public Enemry, Nas and a few other veteran MCs but a lot of these kids they got on really lack presence ...except for maybe YG. Then again I was raised on all the artists in this game (including the non Def Jam artists) so of course I'm biased. But even "Def Jam: Icon" felt like a step backward. Honestly, I don't think I want another sequel. I just want this game again. Remastered maybe...or shit...just give me the original game. Let me be best friends with Method Man again, let me throw Danny Trejo in front of a train again, or let me toss Snoop Dogg out of a window one more time. Give me Fight For New York! Ok rant over. You can't replicate this one. Its just impossible. Some stuff should remain sacred.
