4/5 ★ – Diluted_Thought's review of Enslaved: Odyssey to the West.

I had a hell of a good time with "Enslaved", and I suppose you could say this title was a sleeper hit as it didn't sell well but it had a lot of good going for it. The world, the game play, the action were all great elements but the thing that really kept me going was Monkey and Trip's budding relationship. I put myself in Monkey's shoes and trying to keep Trip alive turned out to feel important to me, and not just as an added element. By the final moments of the game I was happy with the character relationships and growth. I (as Monkey) was ready to die for her. It was an interesting emotional response I had but I attribute that to the writing and character development. The ending was definitely eye opening and it made me wonder if the choice she made to "save" humanity was actually the right one. I was madly conflicted. "Enslaved" was a beautiful game, although not great. But there was enough here for me to truly want a sequel. One the unfortunately will never happen. I hate cliff hanger endings.
