4/5 ★ – Diluted_Thought's review of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

Let me start by saying that "MK8D" is gorgeous. Nintendo never misses. For an 8 year old game, it looks fantastic. It plays great as well and this game the only title my Wife will ever play with me. We have a lot of fun as a tag team of Yoshi and Princess Peach. The music is also wonderful and most stages have some absolutely terrific theme's. My favorite being Toads Harbor. Plus I love some of those reimagined or returning stages. Nintendo really packed this game with all the good things we love and I'm really debating on weather I should get Nintendo Online for all those other stages. I will say though, the last time I played a Mario Kart was "Double Dash" for a very brief session, but most of my time went to "Mario Kart 64" which defined that franchise for me. Once I finally got to "8 Deluxe" most of that excitement has washed away in time and mostly because this game still has the silly ass rubber band mechanic where, no matter how fast you go it always seems like someone is right behind you, but you'll be struggling to catch up to first place and those fuckers are unstoppable. I always hated that about this franchise. Still, its a great memory for me and my wife. Peaceful play.
