3/5 ★ – Diluted_Thought's review of Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds.
I'll start with a story.
Back in 2011 I was single dude with very little money to my name so therefore having no girlfriend was pretty much a given. My local Gamestop was suppose to be gettin MvC3 in time for Valentines Day. I figured, well since I don't have a valentine, I'd gift this game to myself and just have a dope time beating the crap out of a few characters. Considering how much I loved MvC2 I knew this was a game I needed to get. So I was stewing in hype while I was at work, waiting for the time to count down so I can run and grab my copy and finally try it out. I had even bought a strategy guide for it before hand to prepare me for this moment. After work I raced over to Gamestop where I was greeted at the door with a note that said:
"Sorry for the inconvenience but we will NOT be having the midnight release of Marvel vs Capcom due to shipment delays from our main store due to weather from last week. Sorry!"
My heart didn't shatter or anything, but i was Fucking Livid.......
I went home that day and just played a shooter to vent my frustration.
They didn't get the game until maybe 3 or 4 days later. My anger just bubbled over while I had to watch dudes on Youtube upload gameplay clips.
So any how, when I finally got my hands on this game I was hyped! All those trailers of the game were gorgeous and I was excited to play the game because I had this idea that the ending cinematics were going to do something similar and give parts and pieces of the story. So I picked my team of Wolverine, Chris Redfield and Spiderman and went to work. The game play was fun enough but only after a few rounds I remember how bad I was at fighting games and no strategy guide was going to help me get any better. Still I pushed through to the end and finally beat Galactus! So I set the control down expecting a dope cinematic and get a shitty 3 panel still frame image. Let me tell you. I was so Incredibly disappointed by this that I never again played this game. I had just spent upwards of 60 bucks on a game that disappointed me in so many ways. Since then I've abandoned the idea of ever playing another MvC game. It may sounds little too dramatic, but I lost all patience for this franchise. I expected to much and was left feeling like shit by the end of it. You know, kinda like how most Valentines days go.
