4.5/5 ★ – Diluted_Thought's review of RAGE 2.

I gave the original "Rage" a pretty low score a while back, but "Rage 2" made me a believer. The open world was full of deadly drifters, monsters, gangs and oddly gorgeous sunsets. This game is the definition of 80's inspired post apocalyptic scenarios and I love it. I absolutly dug driving around the open world and looking for new camps to raid. Treasure hunting for meteor crystals was also a fun side gig to upgrade my monster ass vehicle. The gun play / combat in this game felt tight like "DOOM" and iD had proven that they have the best Shotgun in videogames. But the best part of this game chasing after convoys that felt like they were ripped out of "Mad Max Fury Road"! Lots of mission, tons of side quests and so much stuff to shoot made this game an absolute blast. This is totally my aesthetic and I really need to get this games cover as a poster some day. The one major draw back of this game was how empty it felt once you've raided all the camps. They did add the option to come back to them and replay them but at the time you weren't earning much currency for doing so, which you need to stock up on ammo for your vehicle. So at some point you were stuck driving an ammo-less tank. I really didn't like that. Still, I plan to revisit this game next year and the DLC I missed. I can't wait to come back to it to see what's been fixed or added. I don't care what anyone says, "Rage 2" was the SHIT! On a final note, the soundtrack is siiiiiick. (Update) This is coming off after 6 years since my last play-through I my thoughts and opinions on the main game haven't changed much. Still really enjoyed the shit outta this game. I did finally play the "Rise of the Ghosts" DLC and enjoyed the new weapons and power it came with. The ghosts really were far more formidable than the standard enemy in the main game so it was a blast every time I raided their camps. My big issues were the lack of giant mutants or convoys to chase. Still it a cool addition to an already enjoyable game. I will eventually replay this game in the near future as its a great title to discover heavy new music too. Oh according to Steam I put almost 60 hours into this game on the latest run. Weird to think I've played it that long.
