Diluted_Thought's review of Turok: Evolution.

Reviewing the GBA version of this game. 2 out of 5 stars. The console version of Turok Evolution was actually one of my favorite games in the franchise and one of the designed games in the franchise as well. I was actually surprised to find that the was a GBA version of this game, so since I'm currently running through some of those titles I figure I'd give this a shot and boy was I disappointed. The game is 2D run and gun platformer that puts you in the shoes of Turok and gives you a chance to collect an arsenal of weapons to take on your enemies. While this all sounds both familiar and simple the game betrays any fun you actually might have with it the longer you play it. The whole concept is running through different stages, find some cool weapons, use said weapons to get to the end, rinse and repeat. But this game doesn't maintain any sense of actual enjoyment. You may run across some big enemies in this game that require a rocket to take down, but really your biggest enemy is the games ever increasing difficulty. Even with a few cheats on to equip me with some really powerful weapons the game well throw tons of enemies at you and many that take quite a lot of damage and keep bomarding you with more until you either die or run out of ammo (and then die). At some point, I was no longer interested in exploring levels, I was just trying to run through them as quickly as possible. The game is suppose to be fun and simple and yet it is neither. I understand people give these games a lot of shit but they really are quite good, unfortunately for the GBA version of this game they took everything that made Turok charming and scrapped it for a game that could turn a quick buck. And just to throw salt on the wound this game had NO TECH BOW. I'm severely disappointed in this version.
