3/5 ★ – Diluted_Thought's review of Twisted Metal 4.
So i get this game isn't as highly regarded as others in the franchise but I thoroughly enjoyed this game with its crazy levels (each complete with its own boss fight) and its awesome soundtrack! Rob Zombie was the biggest fucking thing to happen to metal back in the late 90s that it was almost a no brainer to include him or his music into videogames. Slamming in the back of his Dragula was actually quite a lot of fun and his special was actually pretty useful for throwing people off stages. Apart from Mr. Zombie this game introduced me to other bands like Ghoulspoon, One Minute Silence, Skold and Cirrus. I actually don't know if more than one of those is still around but it made playing this game a banger of a time.
My biggest gripe is the driver endings. Most were pretty messed up but it lost a certain grimy aspect about them and some were straight up comedic. I preferred the darkness of Twisted Metal 2 but this game was still a lot of fun. You could also listen to this on a cd player and enjoy the music in the game along with some weird hidden character dialogue. A pretty cool little detail.
On a final note, I played this a few years back and the game looked PRETTY ROUGH. Which is a problem for most PS1 games in general.
