4/5 ★ – DirtyMidnighter's review of The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay.
This game sort of came out of nowhere and blew a lot of minds. Visually astonishing for the time, it helped introduce state-of-the-art bump-mapping texture work. Based on the Riddick movie series (which wasn't exactly super popular or anything) Butcher Bay's gameplay was a engaging mixture of stealth and first-person-shooting/brawling and even some light open world stuff thrown in there for good measure. Somehow, it all worked, making it an easy contender for the short list of good movie-to-game adaptations.
