3.5/5 ★ – Eclipse's review of Disgaea 5 Complete.
Disgaea 5 feels like a game that was designed for people who enjoy grinding their characters to max level in RPGs and completely breaking the game as much as possible. The game is a Strategy JRPG that implements an absurd amount of systems to upgrade your characters and their gear. It is pretty overwhelming at first with the amount of things that are thrown at you. Most of the fun that I had with this game though was figuring these systems out and utilizing them to make hilariously overpowered party members. The story is passable, but quite generic, and it really dragged along after playing for a while. The meat of the content is in the post-game, which is quite grind-intensive, and if that is something you don't enjoy, I would avoid this one. I initially didn't care for the game's style, but it grew on me over time, and I really ended up liking the character sprites and art style as a whole. Overall, if you enjoy systems-heavy games, optimization, and pushing a game to its limits, this one is worth checking out.
