Pure joy distilled into a game. There isn't much more that needs to be said, but to provide some specifics, this is Playstation's best effort to compete with Mario and, in some cases, I feel it outright beats Nintendo at their own game. Astro doesn't have the variety of movement tools Mario has at his most robust, but the movement feels just as tight and responsive. Where it does even better is in its collectibles. Collecting the various Playstation IP bots and unlocking their idle animations in the hub area is more satisfying than any other collectathon platformer I've played. This game will go bye in the blink of an eye and leave you desperate for more in the best way possible. I'm not sure what Team Asobi has planned for us next but they have elevated themselves to the upper echelon of Playstation's internal devs teams with this title.
